Bohemian Muslim Weddings

If you are a free spirit and feel weddings are too formal and bourgeois, then bohemian wedding attire may be just the thing for you. Bohemian is a blended style that combines simple artistry with individuals who are creative, frugal and live a nomadic lifestyle. Do you see anything common with Muslim values?

What is the boho look? It was highlighted by Sienna Miller and Kate Moss in the 2004-5 timeframe. It is about wearing loose fitting clothing, that have natural earth tones. Shoes can be sandals, hair appears natural, plenty of accessories, including headbands, make-up looks natural. Obviously there is more to it than that, but we’re just encapsulating “boho.” You don’t have to be a hippie or a bedouin, our lifestyles, especially in America and Western Europe, are fast paced and always on the move. Give the current economic environment, where the average wedding costs  just over $30,000 (excluding honeymoon), frugality is not only prophetic, it is pragmatic.

If you, your spouse-to-be and your family are okay to let go of the cultural chains and expectations that there is only one way to hold a wedding then that will free you up to not only create a unique event, but also one that will save you money. Take your inspiration from nature and take your event to the great outdoors. Headbands, bouquets, dresses and rings do not have to conform to everyone else’s expectations. Whether it be the dress or decor, who says everything has to match and be color coordinated?
